Syrian Sovereign Fund Invests in Al Wahda Sports Club Through Tumooh Sports Development

The Syrian Sovereign Fund has invested in Al Wahda Sports Club through Tumooh, marking the launch of its investments in the sports sector and establishing a path to support the development of clubs across Syria’s governorates.

Al Wahda was selected as the starting point based on its sporting stature and established supporter base, as well as the opportunity to build a model that combines professional management, sporting development and financial stability, with the potential to be applied to other clubs and sports projects.

Tumooh, a Syrian Sovereign Fund subsidiary specializing in sports investment and development, manages the Fund’s investments in the sector by developing clubs and facilities, supporting talent, strengthening management practices and creating sustainable revenue streams that contribute to the stability and growth of clubs.

The new management has begun addressing accumulated financial and administrative matters, while assembling a team with expertise spanning sports, administration, finance, operations and media to organize the club’s work and improve its efficiency.

The importance of sport extends beyond competition and physical fitness. The Syrian Sovereign Fund views sports development as an investment in people and a driver of development. Accordingly, the investment’s development focus includes identifying talent, strengthening the capabilities of athletes and professionals, and enhancing the club’s role in its community. The Fund is also working to develop the Al Wahda experience into a model that contributes to building a more structured sports sector capable of sustained growth and expansion.
